What exactly is CBD?

Posted by Richard Badessa on

Cannabidiol (CBD) is an important chemical compound of the cannabis plant - just one of over 400 compounds found naturally in the Cannabis plant. These compounds that make up CDB are called "cannabinoids". This is where our story begins.

CBD is being studied all over the world for its astounding properties. Science is learning more and more about why CBD does what it does and how it does it. We know that CBD interacts with our bodies thanks to a network of neurons called the endocannabinoid system. What is that? Well, it interacts with a wide array of systems in our bodies to adjust and modify areas such as pain receptors, mood, appetites and more.

Does CBD get me high? A short answer? No.  A longer answer? Still no, but here's why. CBD contains zero THC, which is the cannabinoid that results in the "high" feeling. Without the THC, we have zero psychoactive effects and zero legal issues. This is a win for everybody!

What's great is if you are a recreational user of THC (legally of course) CBD can help make for a smoother high and reduce things such as anxiety or mood alterations for the better. So think of CBD as your personal assistant and BFF for THC consumption.

We've got another blog post talking about the legality of CBD...keep checking this blog for that piece soon.
